A series of summer workshops to help promote
Fly fishing skills – on and off the water.
June 3 &17; july 22; august 5
10am - 4pm
Learn basic techniques of fly fishing featuring a multitude of locally proven patterns, and
how to fish them more effectively. Hank Pennington is a knowledgeable and respected
veteran fly-tier and sport fisherman with decades of experience fishing K odiak’s
waters. Join us as he teaches time-tested patterns and techniques for catching the fish
of your dreams!
Clinic will focus on the basic techniques of fly-casting, fly fishing, and how to apply
them when fishing local waters. An in-store knot-tying clinic will also be held.
INTRODUCTION TO FLY FISHING
CLASS FEE $50 – PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
• Fly fishing rod, reel, line and a valid 20 17 Alaska Sport Fishing license
(can be purchased at Big Ray’s) are required.
• Waders, polarized eyewear and a billed hat are recommended.
• Loaner rod & reel outfits are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Friday Night Vise brings local fisherman and fisherwomen together in a non-formal format to learn about all aspects of fishing. If there is a pattern that is going to be taught you will need to buy the materials for that pattern. No materials will be provided unless otherwise specified. Big Ray’s will not reimburse for any personal materials used. Everyone is welcome to this open forum.
Bring your vise, feathers, flash, hair and hooks. Come and meet other local fisherman and exchange ideas on all aspect of fly-tying and fly-fishing. This is a free forum, everyone is welcome; registration is not required.
