It's 12:00 AM and I feel a gentle shaking.
No, it isn’t an earthquake it is just my dad telling me to rise and shine because, “the early bird catches the worm”. This is exactly what I hear him say every time we have a planned hunt for the elusive King Salmon.
This particular day we are leaving from Wasilla, AK to head north about 2 hours. Of course he would disown me if I gave away our secret spot. After I finally open my eyes half way, load up my lunch and fishing gear we are on our way. And sure enough, just like clockwork, 2 hours and 30 minutes pass by now one of us is on the bank yelling “Fish On!”
My dad, the Alaskan fish slayer always knew exactly how to pack and what bait and tackle to bring for a successful day on the river. To Alaskans this probably sounds very familiar.
